Service is part of who we are.
Twice each year — once in the spring and again in the fall — Penn Staters
from across Tampa Bay come together to support our neighbors at the
Community Food Pantry in Carrollwood.
Join fellow alumni, families and friends for a Saturday morning of service
as we roll up our sleeves and support an organization working every week
to fight food insecurity and serve families throughout our Tampa Bay community.
The Community Food Pantry has deep roots in Carrollwood. What began as a
small effort by members of Village Presbyterian Church
to keep non-perishable food available for neighbors in need grew into the
Community Food Pantry serving families throughout the area.
Today, volunteers remain an essential part of the pantry’s ability to
serve our community.
During our volunteer morning, Penn State Tampa Bay volunteers may assist
with activities such as packing groceries, sorting donations,
stocking and organizing food, preparing items for distribution and
supporting other pantry needs as directed by the pantry team.
Our October 24 volunteer morning is only one part of our fall service effort.
This year, we’re getting the entire Penn State Tampa Bay community involved.
During every Penn State Tampa Bay football watch party in October,
we’re asking Penn Staters to bring unopened, unexpired,
non-perishable food donations to our chapter watch party locations.
We’ll collect donations throughout October and combine everything contributed
by our chapter community for a big Penn State Tampa Bay donation
to the Community Food Pantry at the beginning of November.
Headed to a Penn State Tampa Bay Watch Party in October?
Grab a few non-perishable food items on your way out the door, wear your
Blue & White, cheer on the Nittany Lions with fellow Penn Staters and
help us fill the pantry shelves for families across Tampa Bay.
Our Community Food Pantry volunteer days have become a
semi-annual chapter tradition, bringing Penn Staters together
each spring and fall for a morning devoted to serving our neighbors.
It’s an opportunity to reconnect with old friends, meet new Penn Staters
and put the values of our alumni community into action right here at home.
Alumni, family members, friends and supporters of Penn State are invited
to serve alongside us. Whether you’ve volunteered with our chapter for
years or this will be your first Penn State Tampa Bay event, we’d love
to have you join us.
Come spend your Saturday morning with fellow Penn Staters and help make
a meaningful difference for our Tampa Bay neighbors.
Join us October 24 and help show Tampa Bay what Penn State service looks like.
